PACHMARHI- CENTRAL INDIAS'S MOST VERDANT JEWEL

In 1857, pachmarhi was discovered by chance when captain james forsyth of the bengal lancers was galloping hard up the satpuda ranges. He visualized that this beautiful saucer shaped valley could be developed as an ideal sanatorium . Thus began the development of this charming little hill- station which has over the years managed to remain pristine and has not been  commercialized like most other hill-station in India.

This little jewel is full of nature 's bounties. Breathtaking mountain ranges, tranquil forest glades, dense forest of sal & bamboo, myriad water-falls, abundant flora and fauna, all make pachmarhi the ideal paradise for a quick get-away a holiday. The valley, ravines and maze of gorges, sculpted in red sandstone by the wind and weather, add to the rich palette of colors that this hill-station conjures and cascading waterfall flash silver in the sunshine. Deep azure pools are hidden delights and everywhere wildlife watchers will be rewarded by fascinating glimpses of the animal & bird kingdoms.

Pachmarhi is a archaeological treasure house. In cave shelters in the mahadeo hills is an astonishing richness of rock paintings. Most of these have been placed in the period 500-800 ad , but the earliest paintings are estimated to be 10,000 years old.
